2022 Technology Leader of the Year

Purpose of Award:  This award is to honor a district technology leader/administrator who exhibits exemplary leadership in the effective use and integration of technology in the teaching and learning process, and technology operations throughout the leader’s district.

Criteria:  Eligible recipients include site or district technology coordinators, technology directors, lead technology facilitators, and administrators.  Nominated technology leaders should support digital age learning, implement technology, and transform the education landscape.  Transforming schools into digital age places of learning requires leadership from people who can accept new challenges and embrace new opportunities.  Now more than ever, the success of technology integration depends upon leaders who can implement systemic reform in our schools.  See all criteria at https://www.iste.org/standards/for-education-leaders

Award Winners:  OKSTE will choose one (1) technology leader based on the criteria.

Application:  Applications must be received by midnight on Monday, September 26th.  Incomplete applications will not be considered.  

Award:  Award recipients will receive statewide recognition and a plaque.

Part A:  Applicant Information

The following information should be included as the first page of the application/nomination:

        • Applicant name
        • Applicant’s email address
        • Current position
        • Total number of years in leadership
        • School district
        • School district address, including zip code
        • Superintendent’s name
        • Superintendent’s email address

Part B:  Nomination Statement & Statement of Leader’s Support of Digital Age Learning, Implementation of Technology, and Transformation of the Education Landscape

The Nomination Statement is a video or narrative written by a representative of the OKSTE member who provides the reason for the individual as an outstanding leader.  The narrative is limited to 2000 words, two (2) pages in length, 10-12 point font, Arial or Times New Roman, with 1-inch margins. The video should be 3-5 minutes and have permission from those individuals in the video.

Part C:  Applicant’s Résumé or Curriculum Vitae

Include the applicant’s current résumé or curriculum vitae.  Document may be scanned.  Ensure the document includes the applicant’s professional experience, education affiliations, and other relevant information.

Part D:  Still Images

Include four (4) to six (6) still photographs of the leader interacting with students and/or educators while teaching.  Photographs may be used in print media or on the OKSTE website.  There is a Media Release as part of the application.  Ensure that images of students are allowed for publication based on your school district’s policy.

Part E:  Letters of Support

Three (3) letters of recommendation may be included in the application.

  • Promotional videos, DVDs, and CD-ROMS
  • Display on the World Wide Web for profiles and galleries
  • Public relations and press materials
  • Academic and journalist publications
  • Advertisements, documentation and print collateral
  • Demonstrations at trade shows, conferences, meetings, professional development sessions
  • Broadcast
  • Other media, as appropriate

    I hereby grant permission for OKSTE to include my likeness and comments, in any and all forms, for the above-named event and/or publication.  I accordingly give OKSTE the right to use my image, voice, pronouncements, likeness, name, and any biographical material submitted by me in connection with the event/publication named above, whether used in excerpts or in full, for purposes of the reproduction and distribution described above.

    I hereby release and discharge OKSTE and other event/publication sponsors and organizations from any and all liability arising out of my participation in the event or in connection with the performance of any of the activities described in this document as permitted herein, including but not limited to my rights of privacy or publicity, copyright, patent rights, trade secret rights, moral rights, or trademark rights.  All permissions and releases granted by me herein shall be effective in perpetuity and throughout the universe, and extend and apply to OKSTE and its assigns, contractors, sublicensed distributors, successors, and agents.
